ABOUT ME
Hailing from Jiangxi in Eastern China, surrounded by hills and Rivers, Weiyang's journey is one marked by an unwavering passion for storytelling. He pursued a degree in Broadcasting and Television Journalism as an undergraduate, and attained his MFA in Film and Television Production from Loyola Marymount University in May 2017.
Weiyang's creative odyssey has been punctuated by notable achievements. In 2016, his short film "A Comedy Invisible Man" was selected by the Fusion Short Unit of the 19th Dances with Film Festival in Los Angeles. In 2017, the short film "Insight" he edited was selected by the L.A. Shorts International Film Festival. In 2018, his film "XYXY" won the Best Fiction award at the 5th Flamingo Film Fest, and the short film "Stuck" that he edited won the 2018 AT&T SHAPE CREATE-A-THON competition. In 2019, he edited one episode "Last Stop: Paradise" in the Netflix series "Till Death Do Us Apart", and it was selected by the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. In 2022, the fourth feature he edited, "Screwdriver", premiered on the closing night of the 25th Dances with Films Festival.
Venturing beyond the realm of editing and post-production, Weiyang Li embarked on a collaborative journey with Melt Pictures in 2022. Here, he stepped into roles of writer and director, crafting mini-series and commercials for prominent mobile games such as "Dead by Daylight Mobile," "Knives Out," and "Aviagames," among others.
Weiyang is currently dedicated to the development of his first feature, "Away." This compelling cinematic endeavor stands as a testament to his commitment to illuminating the generational struggle entwined with the indelible impact of the one-child policy. Weiyang's vision, boundless creativity, and unyielding dedication promise to forge an enduring legacy in the realm of storytelling and filmmaking.
